Planned Giving

Planned gifts are generally made from a donor’s estate and can offer a number of advantages. Bequests are the most common type of planned gift, but through our partnership with the Renton Community Foundation, CISR can accept a number of complicated planned giving opportunities, including charitable remainder trusts, life insurance gifts, and life estates.

Give through your Will - For many donors, giving through their will is easy and provides opportunities to give larger gifts than normally possible. Bequests and other testamentary gifts can take many forms, including naming CISR as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or insurance policy. Leaving a gift in your will is easy to arrange and offers the same choices as making a cash contribution.  Please visit the community foundation website at www.rentonfoundation.org for information on “how to establish a fund”, or contact them at (425)282-5199; their Executive Director will be happy to discuss your plans with you. If you plan to benefit CISR through a provision in your will, please notify us. We would be proud to immediately begin honoring your charitable intent.

For examples of language to use in your will or to discuss making a gift after your lifetime, contact us at 425.430-6656 or email.

Life Insurance - Gifts of life insurance can be made in a variety of ways.

  • Name CISR as a beneficiary of a policy, thereby securing an estate tax deduction.
  • Donate either a paid-up policy or one on which premiums remain to be paid and obtain an income tax deduction.
  • Use a gift of life insurance to preserve the legacy passed on to your heirs by replacing other assets previously donated to charity.

For more on gifts involving life insurance, please contact us at 425.430-6656 or email.

IRAs and Qualified Retirement Plans - Retirement plan assets are some of the most tax-efficient to transfer to charity in your estate plan. It’s as easy as naming Communities in Schools of Renton as a beneficiary in your 401K or IRA.
