Community Partnerships
Since 1994 Communities In Schools of Renton (CISR) has worked in close collaboration with service agencies in Renton and South King County. The purpose of these collaborations has been to enhance the services provided through shared information and resources; as a result, a broader community impact has been achieved, promoting racial equity within Renton and its school district. The following are agencies is not exhaustive, but is simply meant to illustrate how CISR collaborates with agencies in Renton on a daily basis.
The following is Agency/Organization Impact
Salvation Army – Assistance with emergencies, utilities, holidays, food backpacks, as well as collaboration during holidays. Together we pioneered programs to donate backpacks and coats. We impact the lives of families every day.
Department of Social & Health Services - CISR Family Liaisons serve as advocates for families, facilitating their compliance with DSHS programs, and working collaboratively for their success.
East Side Baby Corners – CISR accesses services weekly for items ranging from birth to ages 16. They are very helpful to families who need everything from clothing, baby items, furniture, car seats, booster seats and formula.
Catholic Community Services – Utilities and emergency assistance, gas and hotel vouchers. This agency serves all of King County.
Vision House -Access to domestic violence shelters; transitional housing to public school students and their families. CISR Family Liaisons collaborate this support helping with holiday assistance programs.
YWCA – Domestic violence shelter and good services for children. Availabile for emergencies.
Multi-Service Center – Emergency, utilities and rental assistance, emergency shelter; serving all of King County.
Renton Clothing Bank – Clothing vouchers; provides new shoes, socks, and underwear for students in need.
South King County Coalition for Homelessness – One-night-count of homeless in King County.
Renton Area Youth Services – Parenting classes, counseling within school buildings.
Children’s Home Society – Mentoring and parenting classe, including story-telling training for improvement of child interaction.
Renton/Skyway Boys & Girls Club – Referrals for afterschool programs.
Church Contacts – Each Family Liaison has a contact for tutoring, holiday support, immediate needs, food cards, help with moving (e.g., rental assistance).
Clubs – Relationship with various Clubs is established through the central office of CISR.
Each club has a different program for Renton School District students.
- Rotary has a coat give-away once per year and a dictionary drive for 3rd graders; many Rotarians are also Mentors in the CISR Mentor Program.
- Kiwanis has a holiday program, providing items, such as bikes.
- Soroptimist also provides services such as a grant for women in training.
City of Renton & Renton School District – On-going financial support for operational budget of CISR.
In addition, CISR collaborates in partnership with diverse local businesses and foundations which help continue its mission and programs free-of-charge for those most at need in the Renton community. The following are organizations with whom CISR currently collaborates:
